The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has arrested a 32-year-old guest house manager, Akinsanmi Olawale, for allegedly stealing and criminally converting over N12.5 million belonging to his employer in Akure, the state capital.

The Command said the suspect was apprehended following a complaint lodged by Mrs. Linda John, proprietor of Remmy Guest House, Alagbaka, who accused him of engaging in fraudulent activities while serving as the manager of the establishment.

According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SC Daniel Aidamenbor, the suspect was arrested on May 18, 2026, after the complaint was reported at the NSCDC headquarters in Akure.

The statement noted that investigators immediately launched a probe into the allegations and uncovered discrepancies in the financial records of the business.
"The suspect, who served as the manager of the guest house, could not account for proceeds generated from the business over a two-year period spanning 2024 to 2026," the Command said.

NSCDC further disclosed that its investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly manipulated and falsified the guest house's financial records by presenting inaccurate accounts in a bid to conceal the diversion of funds.

"Further investigation uncovered that the suspect had allegedly manipulated and falsified the financial records of the guest house by presenting inaccurate accounts aimed at concealing the misappropriation of funds," the statement added.

The Corps said a forensic audit carried out during the investigation established that the suspect could not satisfactorily explain the whereabouts of N12.5 million generated from the business.

According to the Command, the suspect subsequently confessed to the alleged offence during interrogation.

Confirming the arrest, the Ondo State Commandant of NSCDC, Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, reiterated the Corps' commitment to protecting lives, property and legitimate businesses across the state.

He assured members of the public that the suspect would be prosecuted after the conclusion of investigations.

"The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations in line with the Corps' zero-tolerance policy towards crime and criminality. He will be made to face the full weight of the law," the Command stated.

The NSCDC also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting transparency, accountability and the protection of businesses and residents throughout Ondo State.
